Let the abundance flow…

I absolutely love today’s Abraham-Hicks quote. And I see it come in to play—from both sides—almost every day. Here’s the quote:

“You cannot receive vibrationally something that you are not a vibrational match to. And so, bless those who are finding abundance. And in your blessing of them and their abundance, you will become abundant, too. But in your cursing of their abundance, you hold yourself apart from it. It is a law – it is a powerful law.”

Let me explain what I mean by ‘from both sides.’ Side one: We all know people who get all pissy and nasty when someone else does good. Let’s use money as an example cause I’m thinking everyone can relate to it. When someone else makes a lot of money they may say, “Well they obviously cheated at something,” or “He’s just a capitalist jerk,” or “He doesn’t need more money, other people need it so much more, it’s just not fair.” Unfortunately, if you’re one of these people, you’re causing more harm to yourself then you know. When you condemn someone for say making too much money, you’re basically telling the Universe that you don’t want any money. The energy behind all that complaining is saying ‘money is bad so please don’t give me any.’ You’re coming from a place of anger, resentment, and jealousy. However, when you congratulate that person, now that’s different. By saying things like, “Well done! Congratulations! I’m so happy for you!” You’re saying, ‘Wow! That money is awesome! I like the idea of that! Think of all the good I could do with that money too! Yes please Universe, bring me some of that!’ Can you feel the difference in those two ways of thinking?

Now here’s side two: Because of the people we all know in our lives that act out like those in the Side one example, we ourselves, when we come in to something good, can often downplay it. We think we’re acting in the best interest of everyone to. We say things like, “Oh, I was just lucky. It’s no big deal. Now I can pay off a bunch of debt. It’s probably going to cause more problems. It’s really not that much money.” Because we don’t want to make anyone feel bad, or we don’t want to get anyone angry, we play down our own successes, our own abundance. Now, of course, I’m not saying that we should run around the neighborhood telling all our friends how much money we have an how glad we are it’s ours and not theirs. What I’m saying is we can’t make money bad. In our cursing of someone else’s abundance we hold it apart from ourselves and in the cursing of our own abundance we do the same.

It doesn’t have to be about money. It could be a house. A car. A pool. A job. A new smartphone. But whatever it is….

Bless that abundance and let it flow.

Where is your center?

I spend a LOT of time in my head. And, considering what I do for a living—Animal Communication, Shamanic Practitioner, and Writer—well, that kind of makes sense. When reading an Animal or a Human, I have to center myself in my head space. Same thing when writing for a client. And those of you who know me know that I spend a lot of time just ‘thinking’ even when I’m not wearing one of those hats. (Yea, I spend a LOT of time in my head.) So it stands to reason that I center myself from that space. At least until last night I did.

Last night I was on a webinar with a group of fellow Intuitives. The Host of our meeting, Danielle MacKinnon (her latest book Animal Lessons is awesome), was talking about what recently happened to her when she was working with horses in Costa Rica. She was on her horse, but also trying to help out a friend on her own horse next to her. The friend asked her to intuitively check in with her about something. The funny thing was, when Danielle started to check in, centering herself from her head space, the horse that she was on started veering off the path, eating grass, and generally not paying attention to her. Basically, the horse didn’t feel her on her back anymore because she wasn’t energetically even there. Pretty heady, huh? (See what I did there?)

Earlier in the day I was doing some ‘free writing.’ It’s an awesome practice where you sit with a piece of paper in front of you, ask a question, then just start spewing forth on the page. (Try it, you’ll be amazed at the stuff that comes out…) Anyway, one of the things that came out was how I had to take my own personal power back. There’ve been some things going on that are causing me some anxiety and I’ve recently started succumbing to that anxiety, and hence, looking for something outside of me to fix it. I swear I’m getting to my point here..

So after my meeting last night, I started to put the two together. And I asked this question. When I center myself completely from my head space, am I losing me? Am I giving away more of my power? In the meeting last night, there was a discussion of how to center yourself from your heart space as opposed to your head. So I tried it. Instead of closing my eyes and moving my awareness up to my head, I closed my eyes and moved my awareness to my heart. Now, I’m not saying I felt for my heart space and sent out waves of love and good vibes. I’m saying that I centered myself from that space and pulled in. There’s a difference. And what’d ya know? After a little bit, I actually felt more full. More solid. More just….there. Do I still have to be in my head when I do some of the things I do? Yep. But before I go to the head, I’m going to try to connect with the heart.

I believe they call that the center.

Fine tuning.

Over the past month or so I’ve been getting these subtle…and not so subtle…reminders to let go. To ease off. To relinquish control. And I know that this is the right thing to do, but as humans, we know it’s often not an easy thing to do. The simple words, ‘Let go,’ hold a bit of a charge don’t they? Picture this. You’re dangling off the side of a mountain with a rope in your hand and someone says, ‘Let go, I’ve got you.’ Not going to happen, right? Now I know that what we’re talking about here is not the same thing, but it can still be scary to ‘just let go.’ Why? Because we don’t know what’s going to happen when we do. We often just can’t trust that it’s going to work out the way it’s supposed to, the way we want it to.

Because I have been studying the Law of Attraction for so long, I DO get that when I let go, everything works out. But that holding on is really, really ingrained in me. So a couple of weeks ago, the Universe started with the not so subtle hints about all this. I was with a dear friend and Reiki Master and she said this, “Believe. Love. Trust. Allow.” And man, that ‘Allow’ word really made me think. What if, instead of having to let go, I just ‘allowed’? Some would say it’s the same thing. Let go. Allow. I admit, it’s slight, but there is a difference. For me, there’s a feeling of relief in ‘allow’ that just isn’t there in ‘let go.’ There’s not as much pressure in allowing as there is in letting go. Allowing just isn’t as scary as letting go.

Try this. Say those words to yourself right now. First, “let go.” Now, “allow.” Then ask yourself which felt better….

And just allow the answer to come to you.

Sometimes it’s really just about fine tuning.

Wag your tail…

Yesterday my Hubby and I brought our dog Gibbs to the vet to have what we hoped was just an abscessed tooth removed. We hoped it was the tooth and not his cancer coming back. (Two years ago he had a growth removed from his mouth and it turned out to be the yucky stuff…) Unfortunately, mid morning our Vet called to let us know that it wasn’t the tooth and it was in fact a large tumor behind the tooth. He cleaned it up a bit, but we all know there’s really nothing to be done at this point. So we picked him up yesterday afternoon, brought him home, put him to bed and started worrying about it. How long do we have? When do we make the decision? We have to watch to make sure he’s not suffering! What else can we do? Did he just cry? Finally, we all went to bed exhausted.

So this morning my Hubby gets up at his usual time, so do the dogs. Gibbs gets up, stretches, yawns and trots in to the kitchen. He waits by the door with his sister for Dad to put his collar on. He runs down the stairs to the backyard and pees on everything. He runs back up the stairs and waits for Dad to let him in. He trots over to his usual spot on the rug and watches, with his tail wagging, as Dad makes his breakfast. He wags his tail and looks up at me for his morning kiss. He wolfs down his breakfast and finally goes to his bed in the living room, curls up in a dog ball and settles in for his morning nap. In other words…

He does the exact same thing he does every morning….totally wagging his tail.

He is this morning, his usual happy go lucky self. Loving life, loving Mom and Dad, loving his sister Gigi, his yard, his food, his dog bed. As an Animal Communicator and someone who continually studies Animal Communication, I’ve learned that our animals are ALWAYS teaching us something. They each have a lesson for all of us. The deep, soul level lesson Gibbs is trying to teach me through all of this is something I’m working on figuring out, but the easy-peasy lesson is this: Be happy. Be in the moment. Appreciate what’s in front of you. Love the people around you. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Live for today. And, above all else…

Just wag your tail.

With an attitude like that? Who knows? Gibbs could choose to stick around for a very long time.

I think I mentioned awhile ago how my friend and I were working on manifesting certain things in our lives and in our businesses so we committed to a daily ‘rampage.’ Each morning we would spend five minutes speaking about the things that we wanted and why we wanted them (never the ‘how’ or the ‘when’…). And it was working really well for several days. But then it started to feel a bit stale. Like I was forcing it. “Yea, yea, yea, I want [this] because of [this].” I was kind of losing the good energy around it. The next time I spoke with my friend she reminded me of something. Instead of continuing to ‘rampage’, she just decided to ask for what she wanted. And, of course, there’s a great Abraham-Hicks quote that says just that…

“Delegate it to the manager. You have this really good staff that will take care of everything for you. You just have to delegate it — and trust it.” –Abraham

The trust part is the hard part. As humans, we tend not to trust others or things outside ourselves to work without our help. We assume that in order for something to work out, we need to wrestle it to the ground and make it happen ourselves. In a rampage, when we want something, we state it over and over and over again. That can sometimes be a bad thing because our energy, our excitement, around that thing may not be great all the time. In other words, when we force ourselves to think about something in a positive way, we may let feelings of its absence sneak in and thereby cause the excitement and positive feelings about that thing drop. Think about it, if you’re totally psyched about something and you go on and on about it, it’s awesome. And, when you’re in that place, you definitely should go on and on about it. When you do, you get this really great momentum about that thing going. But, when you try to force yourself to find that same momentum about that same thing say the next day, you often can’t get there. It just doesn’t feel as good.

There’s another quote from Abraham, can’t remember it perfectly and can’t seem to find it right now, but it basically says that you don’t have to spend all your time focusing on what it is you want. You just have to put it out there…delegate it…and then go get happy doing whatever.

When I was rampaging and started to feel less than excited about it, that was my sign to let it go and get out of the way of it. So I did. I simply asked for what it was that I wanted, or, I told the Universe that [this] is what I want and I would appreciate its help in making that happen. Then I let it go. I went about my day. I petted and loved on my dogs. I sat in the sun. I read a book. I talked to a friend. And what do you think happened? Yep. I got it. So what’s the moral of this little blog?

Ask for what you want. Then go pet your dog.

In Munay…

Never mind where you’ve been…

I’ve touched on this subject multiple times, but it came up again in a quote this morning and well, I believe in signs. So today’s Abraham-Hicks quote said this:

“It’s not necessary for you to exacerbate your contrast with struggle in order to get it into a higher place. It is not necessary to suffer in order to give birth to desire. But when you have suffered and you have given birth to desire, so what? You’ve got a desire. Turn your attention to the desire. Think about where you’re going and never mind where you’ve been. Don’t spend any more time justifying any of that stuff.”

The key sentence for me in that quote is: “Think about where you’re going and never mind where you’ve been.” I was talking to a friend the other day about how most of us tend to keep the bad stuff that happened to us when we were kids, or earlier in our lives, or even last year, around us. We like to say, “Well [this] happened to me when I was a child, and that’s why I do [this].” We use the stuff that happened to us in the past as an excuse for not moving forward. If we can’t find a partner? “Well, my parents had a really bad marriage so that was my example.” If we can’t make any money? “Well, my Dad was really bad with money and didn’t teach me how to save.” If we can’t open up to a loving relationship? “Well, I was abused as a child so I don’t trust people.” Think about it, remember when the phrase ‘dysfunctional family’ became all the rage? People started throwing that around like beads at Mardi Gras. And they said it with pride! “Oh, welcome to my dysfunctional family!”

The point is, we sometimes use our past as a crutch. We use it as an excuse. We blame someone or something other than ourselves…from the past…for the position we find ourselves in now. But the point of that quote is that it’s over. That bad stuff is no longer happening to you. Or is it?

As I’ve said a gazillion times, the Law of Attraction states: That which is like, unto itself is drawn. The things you think about now, bring more like things to you. So, if you’re continuing to live in the past, to justify that ‘stuff’ that happened to you, you’re keeping it in your now. The Universe doesn’t know whether the stuff you’re paying attention to happened 20 years ago or 5 minutes ago. If you’re thinking about it and analyzing it and poking at it, it’s in your now. And by doing that you’re ensure that yes, it is still happening to you. So I ask again…

What’s in your now?

Focus on the What and the Why…

I have people ask me all the time how I am able to communicate with animals. To a certain extent, I think anyone can do what I do, but it does take practice AND the ability to completely let go and open up. I explained that to someone recently and it made me think. When I communicate with any animal, the biggest thing I have to do is get out of the way. I almost have to make ‘me’ disappear and leave it all up to the animal. If I try to force information or any direction to the reading, I either start to lose the connection or I start to doubt the connection and it’s really not a good reading. But, when I set an intention that I want to receive the best information I can in order to help the human and the animal I’m reading…well then, it’s usually pretty great. “What?” you ask, and “Why?”

Exactly. When I focus on the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ I want something…instead of focusing on the ‘what’, the ‘when’, and the ‘how’…it usually turns out pretty darn well. Because, when I let go I open up to God/Spirit/Universe and allow them to provide the information or details and make it happen. In their workshops Abraham-Hicks often says that if we just get out of the way, the Universe will provide it better than we could possibly imagine it. In other words, when we try so hard to make something happen the way we want it to, we just mess it up and it never turns out as good as it could have if we just let it happen the way it was supposed to in the first place.

My friend and I recently decided to do a daily ‘rampage’ on the things we were trying to manifest in our lives and in our businesses. So everyday for five minutes, we both talk to ourselves about those things we want and why we want them. We’re very careful about not saying ‘how’ we want them to come to us. So, I invite you to try an experiment. Think about something you really, really want to manifest. Now add to that thought the ‘why’ you want to manifest it and check in to see how it makes you feel when you think those thoughts. Now, think about ‘how’ you want it to manifest. What just happened to your energy?

Let’s stick with the what and the why shall we?

In Munay…

Snap out of it!

I often say, and people often think, that I’m a Type A personality. But, in reality, I’M not, but my BRAIN is. I’m actually a pretty mellow person. I don’t jump from thing to thing, I’m not always running around. I’m not busy climbing the corporate ladder. But my brain? It doesn’t stop. I am constantly thinking, mulling over, analyzing, or just plain picking something apart in my head. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not always bad stuff I’m picking apart, in fact it’s actually usually good stuff. My point is, it never stops. My husband sometimes makes fun of me about it and I say to him, “I defy you to spend 30 seconds inside my head and see if you don’t put your hands over your ears and run away screaming…”

So last week I had a pretty bad week. I dropped the ball on something and just couldn’t figure out what happened, what I was doing wrong. So what did I do? I poked at it and poked at it and poked at it….and then I poked at it some more. In other words, I kept this thing that I couldn’t figure out, that I was very upset about, fully present in my ‘now.’ I kept that bad feeling vibration going, and going, and going. I just couldn’t let it go! I HAD to figure it out! And I felt awful. Now I admit, sometimes when I’m faced with a challenge, I poke at it until I figure it out. Like for example a computer problem that I stay up all night trying to fix. That’s different though. It’s a challenge and it’s really not personal. It’s the computer that’s messing up, not me. But this was me ‘failing’ in my mind, so it was way different.

After 3 days of me carrying this thing around I was so exhausted that some part of me just said, “SNAP OUT OF IT!” And I gave up. I let it go. I just had to trust that God/Spirit/Universe was going to show me how to fix this. And guess what happened? Like later that same day?

When you work in the “energy field” (and I don’t mean Duke power…) you learn that ‘when you give a session, you get a session.’ So in the middle of all of this I saw a client and her big message was all about getting out of the way and trusting that your ‘Team’…again God/Spirit/Universe or whatever it is you call yours…has your back and you just need to trust and let go. Later in the week I gave an Animal Reading and guess what message the animal had for her human? Yep, get out of the way, walk away, trust, and let go. Unfortunately, I was too caught up in trying to figure this out on my own, that I wasn’t hearing the messages that were there for me too. But damned if God/Spirit/Universe didn’t keep throwing them in my path.

Sometimes you can’t convince yourself to let go, to stop thinking about it, to walk away from it, and to trust. (Especially if you have a Type A Brain.) But sometimes, a part of you is able to smack the other part of you in the face and say…

And then you can go pour yourself a cocktail and wait for the answer…

In Munay…

It’s no big deal.

If you read last week’s blog you know I recently communicated with a dead cat. I did a reading for a client and she had some questions for her cat that had passed many years prior. And even though it was long ago, the cat was still around her. The cat was still with her. The cat proved that to her by giving me information that only she could verify. So, today I wasn’t sure what I was going to write about when I got Abraham-Hick’s daily quote. It reads:

Make fun of death. We are as dead as it gets, and we are fully aware of this joyous experience. We are with you every time you allow it. We are in every singing bird and in every joyful child. We are part of every delicious pulsing in your environment. We are not dead, and neither will you ever be! You will just get up, one day, and get out of the movie.

After reading that, I knew what I wanted to write about. Death. And how it really is no big deal. Now before you all go crazy on me, know that two years ago I lost my Mom and yes, it was a very big deal. So I do know and acknowledge the intense pain that comes when you lose a loved one…human or animal. My point in this post is to let you know that you didn’t REALLY lose that human or that animal. Yes, they are no longer physically here with you, but they are here with you. They are still around you. You just have to stay open to their communication. You just have to allow it. How you ask?

Like I said, when my Mom died, it was devastating, BUT because I do the kind of work that I do, I already knew that the veil between this physical plain and another is ridiculously thin. Think about it. We know that everything in this Universe is energy. I am. You are. The keyboard I’m typing on is. And everything that we perceive is ‘dead’ is too. So my Mom is still energy and my client’s cat is still energy. So let’s remember that according to the Law of Attraction, like attracts like. And, if you believe in a ‘heaven-like’ place where there is nothing but love and joy, you know that those whom have crossed over to that place can only vibrate on that highest level of love and joy. So it makes sense that when we ourselves are vibrating with love and joy and appreciation, we will be more open to allowing our loved ones whom have crossed to connect with us.

That’s how.

Make yourself really, really happy and really, really full of love…then watch what happens. Watch for that gorgeous cardinal to come flying right at you. Watch for the clock to be at 11:11 just when you look up. Watch for the rainbow. Watch for the dragonfly to land on your toe. Believe that they are still with you. Talk to them just like you did before. Believe that this death thing?

It’s really no big deal.

(And yes, I just finished typing that and looked at the clock. 10:10. Thanks Mom….)

In Munay…

Animals. They make lemonade.

Animals have a ton to teach us. In fact, I believe that that is why they’re here with us. To teach us stuff. When I communicate with an animal for a client, that’s what I’m looking for, the lesson that animal is trying to teach its human. In other words, when I communicate with an animal, I’m looking for more than, “He loves his dog bed.” Or “His favorite toy is a stuffed skunk.” When I do pick up those types of things, it’s pretty cool because the human feels that validation, but it really goes so much deeper than that. As an Animal Communicator I get to hear some pretty cool lessons and I get to see how those lessons change the humans that get them.

Animals totally get the Law of Attraction. The other day I was reading an animal for a client. In a reading, I always ask the human for questions for his or her animal. This client had a question around the passing of the animal. Yes, the animal had already crossed. It’s energy. Doesn’t really matter where they are. Weird. I know. But very, very cool. Anyway, the human wanted particulars about the animal’s passing. The cool thing was, the animal wouldn’t give them to me. And he made it very clear that he wasn’t going there. What he did give me was the ‘feeling’ he had when it was happening. And it was kind of lovely. He showed me that it was peaceful and airy, a little dizzying, and very calm. Like it was no big deal. The point in this is that he down right refused to go in to any detail that would pull his human back to that time in her life and make her feel that pain and confusion again.

I talk about this to people a lot when they tell me how they’re working on an issue that they’ve had for 2, 5, 10 years. Or how their therapist or counselor or whatever is helping them re-live some horrible event so they can ‘work through it.’ As humans, we tell ourselves that in order to get over [insert issue here] we have to analyze it until we completely understand it and own it and only THEN can we get over it and move on. But in reality, by analyzing that situation to death, all we’re doing is keeping it in our vibration.

Here’s the big thing. Universe doesn’t differentiate between something that’s happening now or something that happened 20 years ago. If you’re thinking about it NOW, it’s in your vibration NOW and you are NOW attracting things with a similar vibration.

My client’s animal knew the pain she had gone through when he died. And he would NOT bring her back to that place. Because there was no good to come from it. He refused to bring her pain from the past back in to her now causing her to attract more of it. Instead, he showed me the positive aspect of what had happened. In short…

He showed me the lemonade.
