“Don’t fight against, root for.” I say this all the time. I post this all the time. I tell people this all the time. And I’m asked about this all the time. For example, this weekend someone asked me how to tell the difference between fighting against and pulling for. I thought it was simple, but I’m starting to see it’s not. The problem is most people think they’re pulling for or rooting for something, but in actuality, they’re fighting against something else.

I’m in a contrary mood today so let’s talk politics. Say you really, really, really don’t want the guy or gal who is the nominee for one party and you really, really, really do want the guy or gal who is the nominee for the other party. Now say you want to let your feelings known so you decide to post about it on FB. You want to let the world know whom it is you’re rooting for. Here’s where most people go wrong. Most people go about it backwards. Most people go ahead and post all the crappy stuff they can find about the guy or gal they DON’T want to win knowing that all their FB friends will totally understand that they hate this guy or gal and that they really want the other guy or gal to win. And that’s true. Anyone reading your scathing post against the guy or gal you can’t stand gets it, you want the other guy or gal to win. Here’s the problem…

The Universe doesn’t.

Get it I mean. The Universe doesn’t get that you DON’T want that guy or gal to win. All the Universe sees is what you’re focusing on. What you’re putting all your attention towards. In other words, the Universe sees that you’re putting all your attention to the guy or gal that you don’t want to win…and is giving you more of it. By focusing on the bad guy or gal, you’re bringing more of him or her to you. The more you post…or fight against…that guy or gal, the more of him or her you’re going to see. So, ask yourself this…
